David has over twenty-seven years of healthcare experience including executive management; start-ups; strategy consulting; financial analysis; credit underwriting; asset-based and real estate lending; debt restructurings; distressed debt workouts; capital markets; healthcare supply and demand analysis; and feasibility, due diligence and benchmarking studies.
In 2008 David Frederiksen founded PatientFocus in Nashville, TN, an outsourced patient-pay billing solution for healthcare providers. With a background in financial modeling and healthcare strategy, David knew the effect financial toxicity would have on patients and providers alike and created a company focused on ensuring that the billing process would be delivered to patients with the same level of care and concern they received during treatment.
From 2006 to 2008, David Frederiksen served as the Chief Operating Officer of Insight Healthcare Financial, Inc., a healthcare finance company based in Nashville, Tennessee. Working on behalf of banks and other lenders across the country, Insight manages and monitors both A/R factoring transactions and asset-based loans to healthcare companies.
From 2001 to 2006, David was with the Pine Creek companies, most recently as the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Pine Creek Healthcare Capital, LLC, a specialized lender to rural hospitals. While at Pine Creek Healthcare Capital, David developed the first credit rating technology for Critical Access Hospitals which both Moody’s and Fitch accepted as the basis for assigning shadow-ratings to these hospitals. Pine Creek Healthcare Capital, LLC was sold to Raymond James Financial, Inc. in May of 2006.
Prior to co-founding Pine Creek Healthcare Capital, David originated, valued and worked out distressed healthcare credits on behalf of both creditors and debtors for Pine Creek Investors, LLC, a distressed-debt asset manager.
In 2000, David joined Phyve Corporation, a Vanguard Health Systems-backed company and from 1997 to 2000 was with the Medstat Group, a healthcare information subsidiary of Thomson Reuters. David began his career in 1996 with Louden & Company, a Nashville-based strategy consulting firm focused exclusively on the healthcare industry.
David is a founding board member of Leadership Healthcare, an organization of health care professionals and entrepreneurs formed in partnership with the Nashville Health Care Council and is the founder and of the Vanderbilt MBA Healthcare Alumni Association.
David received an MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in 1996, where he created the school’s first Health Care Management concentration including classes from the University’s business, medical, and law schools. David earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Denison University (Granville, Ohio) in 1992.
